CIDD-UG has selected and trained 10 young people from each District in the three districts of Pallisa, Kibuku and Budaka in civic education message propagation. During the Rural Democracy Ride, each civic educator is allocated a hired bicycle to ride to the selected community.

All the selected group for democracy ride in a particular sub county in a District are predestined for one selected community every time the ride happens. However, they are required to stop over at each trading center to provide key civic messages for about 15 minutes as they journey. After the 15 minutes’ interaction they then leave and continue as a group toward a sub county of destination.

On arrival at the predestined venue, the Rural Democracy Riders are  joined by already mobilized young people and communities where they are required to provide civic education and catalyze discussion on issues affecting their communities and later draw actions on how to handle them. At the end of the discussions, actions shall be drown at three levels. (1) community actions (2) sub-county actions (3) District actions (4) national action.

The drown community actions are handle at community level using community leaders and readily available resources, (3) sub county actions are arranged into a report and a meeting organized to present to sub county authorities for needed action (4) actions that require District attention are documented and a meeting arranged to present them to the District leadership for their needed action (5) all issues that require national policy engagement are equally documented and shared with national partners for national level engagement for policy change.

This approach has earned CIDD-UG credibility as it has contributed to community change of attitude and practices in the area of citizen organizing to strategic engagements.
