Accountability from a women’s rights perspective exists when all women are able to get explanations from those in power for actions that affect them, and can set in motion corrective actions when those responsible fail to promote their rights. However, demand for accountability by marginalized women remains a challenge in most parts of Uganda and mostly in CIDD-UG areas of operation. It’s against that background in line with its work plan, CIDD-UG during the month of November, 2020 conducted a training of 60 women in the sub counties of Buseta and Kasasira in Kibuku District with the objective of building the capacity of rural women to demand accountability for action on commitments to promote gender equality and women’s rights from Local governments, justice and law enforcement systems, and service providers, for purposes of improving on their quality of life. This was in turn able to galvanize rural women’s voice to demand for accountability during commemoration of the anti corruption day organized by CIDD-UG in partnership with FOWODE field Kibuku District office at Buseta Sub County.
