Voter education continues to be at the heart of CIDD-UG citizen’s sensitization agenda to make the voting population informed on current electoral process. In so doing, CIDD-UG has used door-door and public drives on the other hand to deliver voter education messages for citizen’s active participation in governance and electoral process in Bukedi and Bugisu sub regions.  Our village and urban voter education campaigns are increasing voter enlightenment and competence benefit not only to the voters but also their parties and leaders too.

The trained voter educators at sub county level have continued to use mega phones to reach community members that could have not benefited from Voter education IEC materials. The voter education beneficiaries have equally received message on the urgent need to observe COVID-19 guidelines and campaigns standards issued by Ministry of Health and the independent Electoral Commission by December 2020, CIDD-UG also conducted 2 voter education public drives and distribution of IEC materials in the districts of Kibuku, and Pallisa in eastern region.

The door-to-door voter educations campaigns also enabled CIDD-UG to reach total of 585 eligible voters across the 5 districts of Bukedi sub region. Out of 585 eligible voters reached through door to door, 330 were females, 85  were youth and 70 males,  In addition, the radio programs and social media platforms enhanced our reach in terms of demographic numbers and coverage reaching up to 4,221 citizens. Some of the popular messages that featured during our radio programs and social media platforms included the #you have right to vote candidate of your choice, one man one vote, your vote is your voice  and observance of SOPs among others. This is expected to translate into increased voter turnout for the 2021 General elections.
