Participants in governance and service delivery training sessions In Kibuku District
Capacity building and mentorship continues to be the core of CIDD-UG intervention in championing actions towards enhancing young people and women active participation in governance and service delivery improvement agenda in Bukedi sub region. CIDD-UG is alive to the fact that if it has to enhance young people and women active participation in local government planning and budgeting process, then it requires to increase awareness and critical information about the development processes amongst them through capacity building and mentorship at sub national and local levels.
Civic and governance enlightenment as well as service delivery discussions do not only benefit citizens but their leaders too. This is the background against which CIDD-UG is deliberately mobilizing and organizing the youth and women to form community-based organizations (CBOs) to support governance debates and service delivery discussions within Bukedi Sub-region as a means to ensure their meaningful participation in democratic Governance.
Through our interventions that are supported by continuous mentorship and coaching, we have been able to amplify young people and women’s voices on critical issues affecting them on top of having these issues discussed and considered during the local governments planning and budgeting processes in the pilot project districts at sub-national level.
