Some of the Young People Undergoing Training on Evidence Based Advocacy conducted by CIDD-UG

Budgets are the blueprint for resource mobilization, allocation, and utilization in communities grappling with poverty and social vulnerabilities. Undertaking evidence based and informed successful budget advocacy requires that facts must be laid on table to be able to influence decisions of leaders.
However there has been increasing poor young people meaningful participation and involvement in budget formulation processes leading to poor responsiveness of budgets, plans and policies to their needs. This has been attributed to a number of factors but most especially low capacity to interpret budgets and demand for accountability.

CIDD-UG believes that if young people’s capacity and skills are built to demystify budgets, policies and plans, they will intern be able to convert technical data into useful indicators, identify leakages or bottlenecks in the flow of financial resources or inputs and be able to demand for accountability through focused advocacy interventions. It was from such background that CIDD-UG under her governance projects mobilized and organized a training of 125, young people from Pallisa and Kibuku Districts to enhance their capacity on social research, Participatory public expenditure tracking for purposes of strengthening accountability and delivery of public services by local governments to the poor and most marginalized people.
