CIDD ED Ejautene FRED presents CSO regional

CIDD-UG under the umbrella of CSBAG members through the executive director Mr. Ejautene Fred represented CSO in eastern Uganda to present alternative budget proposal for financial year 2025/26.  Under the theme Budgeting for improved service delivery; FY 2025/26. This activity was organized by MoFPED in line with article 155(2) of the constitution and section 13 (1&2) of the public finance management Act 2015 (as amended) that requires the Ministry to commence the consultation process for preparation of the Budget for improving services to the citizen for FY 2025/2026.

The space created by CSBAG and utilized by key CSO actors provided an opportunity for CSOs to filter through citizens voices to redirect government priorities in the FY 2025/2026.

During the CSO presentation Mr. Ejautene Fred ED- CIDD-UG highlighted critical issues that required Government attention in the budget for FY 2024/2025 which include among others Increasing transparency in the budget processes, fiscal discipline, transparency, and accountability to ensure sustainable economic growth and development, improving district urban community access roads (DUCAR) with high potential for boosting business and enhancing completeness which improves local economy and reduces poverty. Improve funding to natural resources and disaster risk management Among others. The presentation aroused debate among participants that saw some of the CSO proposals adopted for further scrutiny.
